After Manchester City dropped more points in the Premier League title race following their 1-1 draw away to West Ham, while there were many negatives including an injury to club legend Sergio Aguero, some supporters were quick to point out a ‘masterclass’ from defender Joao Cancelo.
Cancelo, who was signed in 2019 to challenge Kyle Walker for the right-back slot, has recently been utilised on the left side in place of the injury-prone Benjamin Mendy – often to good effect.

The Portuguese defender found game-time difficult to come by last season, starting just 13 games with few of them in his natural position ahead of Walker, but he has since impressed on the opposite flank.
Against West Ham on Saturday, Cancelo won eight of his nine ground duels and assisted Phil Foden’s second half equaliser (SofaScore), with many supporters flocking to praise the “tremendous” £32.4m-valued ace on Twitter.
