Manchester City: Fans loved club’s throwback to Kevin De Bruyne goal against Swansea

A number of Manchester City fans enjoyed footage posted by the club of a stunning Kevin De Bruyne goal from two seasons ago.

The club’s official Twitter account @ManCity posted a clip of the Belgian’s 25-yard screamer against Swansea from April 2018, the midfielder driving the ball to the net from long range past a helpless Lukasz Fabianski.

As noted by BBC, the game at the Etihad Stadium was the team’s first since reclaiming the Premier League title a week previously and Pep Guardiola’s men were given a guard of honour prior to kick-off. If the visitors were hoping that the newly-crowned champions would ease off the throttle, their hopes were extinguished within 16 minutes as Manchester City went 2-0 up.

De Bruyne’s jaw-dropping strike, his eighth league goal of 2017/18, made it 3-0 early in the second half and further goals from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus rounded off a thumping 5-0 win for a team who would go on to record 100 Premier League points.
