The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Everton manager, Sam Allardyce’s comments (from his pre-match press conference via talkSPORT) on the spending habits at The Etihad claiming that £350 million has a lot to do with the club’s success, although the money has been spent well.

Manchester City sit comfortable at the top of the Premier League and have already ensured they’ll be playing Champions League football despite their being 24 points still to play for in the league. Pep Guardiola’s side have been cantering towards the Premier League crown and for many fans and pundits alike, City had already won the league before a ball had even been kicked in the summer.
City’s brilliance is no doubt down to the bottomless pit of money they have at their disposal, although the Citizens money has still needed to be invested in the right way. The club has made a number of big money signings but it’s also the smaller transfer fees they’ve forked out which have benefitted the club. Club captain Vincent Kompany was signed from Hamburg for a fee of less than £10 million in 2008 and has gone on to become the club’s most successful captain.

These comments always make me laugh. With the Chelsea, United, Liverpool etc spending huge amounts money isn’t mentioned. When its City its about how much money has been spent. The fact that United spent 90M & 75M on their last 2 players & Liverpool spent 75M on a defender. !
