A number of Manchester City fans were left stunned by a transfer report linking Raheem Sterling with a potential move to their crosstown rivals.
The Independent‘s Miguel Delaney reported on Monday that the 25-year-old has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Manchester United, whose analytics team have been monitoring the England international. The story was later shared on Twitter by Man City Report (@cityreport_).
Manchester United's analytics team have been working on Raheem Sterling and if @ManCity's #UCL ban is upheld they will try and sign him this summer.

According to The Independent, the apparent interest from the Old Trafford club “is a reflection of a relative uncertainty” around the future of Sterling at the Etihad Stadium if Manchester City lose their upcoming appeal against a two-year ban from UEFA competitions, which would of course preclude them from the Champions League.
The winger has struck 20 goals this season for Pep Guardiola’s side and 89 in total for the club since his 2015 switch from Liverpool, a fine scoring return which led to one Manchester City fan calling him “gargantuan”. Another questioned why he would leave the club which won the last two Premier League titles, and eight trophies since the start of 2018, for a team who finished sixth in the league last year and are only one position better off this time around.
