Manchester City: Fans hope Kevin De Bruyne will stay after fresh update on his future

Plenty of Manchester City fans are hopeful that Kevin De Bruyne will stay at the club after fresh reports on his future.

The Belgian midfielder had told HLN earlier this month that two years without European football “would be long” if his club’s suspension from UEFA competitions is upheld – Manchester City’s appeal against that two-year ban is set to be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 8-10 June.

However, Goal.com have now reported that the 28-year-old is open to extending his contract at the Etihad Stadium if the club are successful in their appeal, with sources indicating that he and his family are settled in Manchester and that the club have told players they are confident of getting the ban overturned.

De Bruyne, who has twice been voted Manchester City’s player of the season in his five years at the club and made the 2017/18 PFA Team of the Year, has scored 50 goals and provided 85 assists in 209 appearances at the Etihad, with a stellar return of nine goals and 19 assists this season.

These City fans on Twitter hope that he will remain in Manchester for another while yet, with some pleading with club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to stop at nothing to get the UEFA ban overturned and help keep De Bruyne at the club:
