Whilst results have not been particularly good this season, individual performances from a few of Man City’s key players have been great – and Fernandinho has arguably been one of the best.
The Brazilian’s tenure in Manchester has largely been a successful one, but whilst many in the Transfer Tavern expected him to be phased out under Guardiola, the exact opposite has happened.
He has been a vital part of proceedings, and now it appears as though his manager wants to reward him for his fine form.
According to the Sun, Fernandinho is set to be offered a new 12-month deal at the Etihad – with the Brazilian’s current deal set to expire at the end of next season.
This has delighted the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many delighted with how well the Brazilian has done. The midfield enforcer in this side, Fernandinho’s work isn’t always pretty – but it is always efficient.
The likes of De Bruyne and Silva offer the style and bring attractive football to the Etihad, but they wouldn’t be able to excel without Fernandinho doing the dirty work.
He has been a near-constant under Guardiola in the Premier League, having made 20 starts so far.
