It’s been a fantastic season for the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern. Their side are flying high at the top of the Premier League table, and in truth, things couldn’t be going much better. Unfortunately, though, the same cannot be said of one of Man City’s summer signings.
According to the Sun, Man City defender Danilo has a major concern about life at the Etihad, and it concerns his lack of playing time. Forced to the bench given the fine form of Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph, Danilo has rarely featured this term, and it’s concerning him given the fact that the World Cup is set to take place at the end of the season.
Danilo, it is said, is concerned that he may lose his place in the Brazil team if his action doesn’t improve, and so he could even sensationally request to leave the club, albeit on loan, in an effort to get precious minutes.
It would certainly be a disappointing path for his career to take given how excited the fans in the Transfer Tavern were upon his arrival, but Guardiola has been left with little choice. Through no fault of his own, Danilo simply hasn’t been able to get a chance ahead of the ever-impressive Walker and Delph, and there are no signs of that changing anytime soon.
At present, it seems as though he will have to rely on an injury or a few mistakes from his teammates as he looks to get an extended run in the first team.
Landlord’s Verdict
Danilo is clearly a top player, but you can’t fault Pep Guardiola for choosing his team based on merit. Every other player in the Man City squad deserves the minutes that they are getting, and Danilo’s lack of game time is simply a disappointing result of that.
Fortunately, Man City have a lot of games on the horizon, and so if Danilo bides his time, he will surely get his chance eventually.
