With their Premier League form seemingly getting better by the day, it’s certainly a good time to be a Man City fan in the Transfer Tavern. After a few years of transition, Pep Guardiola’s men are now firing on all cylinders, with a Premier League title win looking increasingly likely at the moment. They’re doing all the right things at present, and to be honest, there isn’t anything that could make the Man City faithful in the pub happier right now.
Fortunately, though, they’ve now received some even more exciting news, courtesy of the Telegraph. According to the Telegraph, Man City are ‘set’ to move for West Brom midfielder Jonny Evans, in a move that is sure to please the Sky Blues’ faithful. Significantly, West Brom are also said to be considering cashing in on the defender as they look to free up some funds for Alan Pardew, who recently arrived at the Hawthorns.
It appears as though there could be a real opening for Man City here, and Pep Guardiola seems to keen to take advantage of it. Whilst his side is filled with attacking depth, their options at the back are far more limited, and Evans would certainly help improve that.
They are likely to play hardball with any move, though, and so this deal is far from a foregone conclusion.
Landlord’s Verdict
Jonny Evans might not be as flashy or as exciting as some of the players at Man City, but what he is is consistent. He rarely puts a foot wrong, and he’s proven over the years that he is one of the Premier League’s most efficient defender.
If Guardiola is looking for a defensive specialist with Premier League experience, look no further.
