Man City should shore up their defence with the addition of this England man

Manchester City have spent massively once again this summer as manager Pep Guardiola has looked to shape his squad and win the Premier League title for the first time since making the move from Bayern Munich 12 months ago.

The blue half of Manchester have started pretty well and have once again at times looked exhilarating in some of their attacking play.

However, despite adding plenty of defensive stars like Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy this summer, many still feel that they could do with even more in terms of defensive quality, especially with Guardiola adopting his new wing back formation.

One player our landlord here in the Tavern thinks could fit in nicely with City is Southampton and England man Ryan Bertrand.

The former Chelsea left back has been in superb form over the last two seasons now and has earned his international call-ups. His pace down the left hand side make him one of the most feared attacking fullbacks in the league, and City would love a player like him down the left.

He would not come cheap, but money simply does not appear to be a problem for City these days, and along with Mendy he could give City excellent options when it comes to their left wing back spot.

A top player and a player who can still develop, Bertrand could be an excellent fit at the Etihad given the chance.
