Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the latest comments from their manager, after he revealed his transfer plans for the January window.
The Manchester Evening News quotes Louis Van Gaal on his intentions to sign a winger in the New Year, with United locked within a mouthwatering race for the Premier League title.
United slipped to fourth in the Premier League, with Leicester City leapfrogging them to third, but remain just two points behind leaders Manchester City and joint-top side Arsenal; with plenty of action left to be decided.
Speaking to the media after the 2-0 victory over West Brom, Van Gaal suggested a winger tops his transfer wish-list.
“I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings. ou have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world and Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world.”
“So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.”
Supporters in the bar see where Van Gaal is coming from but have been extremely impressed with Jesse Lingard’s recent form, whilst they also believe Juan Mata is a crucial player for their side. On top of this, they believe Memphis Depay has the attributes to be exactly what the Red Devils need.
