Man United edge closer to confirming long-term deal

Life may not be going all that well for Jose Mourinho in Manchester, though the United fans in the Transfer Tavern have little sympathy for the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’.

Well off the pace in the Premier League title race, the Red Devils have looked hapless under his stewardship thus far as more dynamic sides lead the way, even at this early stage in the campaign.

Still, reports from the Daily Mail have given the Old Trafford frequenters something to cheer about at last.

They claim that Jesse Lingard is close to agreeing a new four-year deal at the Theatre of Dreams, as well as one with a sponsorship one with Adidas.

Recently capped by the senior England national side, the 23-year-old has come on leaps and bounds of late and can now consider himself a regular in the United setup.

He could reportedly DOUBLE his £30k-per-week wages at his boyhood charges and has just 18 months to run on his current deal, prompting the club to move to tie his future down.

Having progressed through the club’s academy, Lingard is the latest in a long line of graduates to now be representing the Red Devils at the highest level.

Will Lingard continue in the England team? Let us know below…
