Man United legend makes first steps into potential management

For the Manchester United supporting punters in the Transfer Tavern, the marriage between their beloved Red Devils and manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t appear to be an overly natural one.

When the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ was drafted into Old Trafford to help restore former glories, the supporters propping up the bar compared the move to selling their soul to the devil.

So, imagine just how happy they are to read reports from the Sun.

They claim United legend Paul Scholes is ready to take a fast-track coaching course as he bids to make his first steps into management.

It is believed the 42-year-old began his UEFA A licence at Blackburn Rovers’ academy on Monday, meaning he can now take a job in football.

Though clearly, it’s a long process, our Red Devils in the bar are dreaming of their former pass master having a similar impact to Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.

He’s already worked as part of the coaching staff, though only on a temporary basis in 2014, helping out Ryan Giggs when David Moyes was sacked.

Wigan coach Warren Joyce, who managed United’s U21 squad, is said to want to bring him to the Latics on a part-time basis.

One of the most naturally talented midfielders this country has produced, this could be the start of something special.
