As quoted by Voetbalinternational (via Squawka) former Everton man Andy van der Meyde has said that he feels Everton would be the perfect club for Manchester United outcast Memphis Depay to regain his form.
Our resident Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern certainly hope he is right with the Dutchman’s link with the club seemingly growing in strength by the day.
Meanwhile, our local United fans here by the bar are a bit disappointed they are seemingly never going to see him reach his full potential after he signed with such a huge reputation from the Eredivisie under Louis van Gaal.
With Jose Mourinho in charge, the already struggling winger has seen his form take a real nose dive and it looks as though the Toffees could be set to capitalise and bring him to Goodison Park.
Certainly, one of their former players, van der Meyde, thinks it would be the perfect match.
Not that he enjoyed his time on Merseyside too much, mind…
“Everton is the perfect club for Memphis Depay, but only because Ronald Koeman is there”, said the ex-Toffee.
”Koeman will give him the confidence he needs that is necessary. Nice football, for which he can be good, it is clear.”
Should Depay sign for the Merseysiders he’d be the latest in an ever-growing list of signings during Ronald Koeman’s first year in charge of the club.
We’ve already seen Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams join this season so more acquisitions are only going to impress our local Toffees even further.
