It’s been another season for transition for Manchester United and given the speculation surrounding the future of Louis Van Gaal, another managerial change may be afoot at Old Trafford to give the Red Devils a new lease of life.
Whatever the scenario concerning the manager at United may be, the Red Devils chances next season rest solely on the transfers that Manchester United manage to get across the line. Whilst they’ve been linked with a number of big names, nothing is guaranteed until it’s a done deal.
United are a far-cry to the side they once were under Sir Alex Ferguson and the lack of established stars within their squad could be seen as the reason why, so we’re all expecting the club to break the bank this summer.
If it’s stars they want, then they should look no further than Barcelona- who are undoubtably the best club side in the world. Their financial situation is sketchy though, which makes sales of key-players always a possibility, and this is something United should definitely try to use to their own advantage.

Gerard Pique
Manchester United lack a leader within their defence and, as far as top defenders go, Gerard Pique is right up there amongst the best. He does of course have previous with Manchester United, as he struggled with the Red Devils before becoming a star in Barcelona, so he may feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
Now 29-years-old, Pique has won literally everything he could possibly get his hands on in Spanish football and at international level, so a new challenge could be tempting. Technically, he’s already won the Premier League, Community Shield and Champions League with Manchester United but he wasn’t really part of the team.
Neymar
The prodigal son of Brazilian football, is somewhat scary to consider that, at the age of just 24, Neymar has already won the Champions League, La Liga and Copa Del Rey. Add to that his honours with Santos, and other minor honours with Barcelona, and it’s clear he’s a world-beater.
Neymar will only get better though and he’s amongst the favourites to win the Ballon D’Or once the years of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s dominance come to an end. Having finished third in that shortlist last year, it’s certainly likely.
Manchester United have held long-term interest in the player and given Barcelona’s financial situation, and an off-field battle concerning unpaid taxes, Neymar could decide United is the next step for his career.
Sergio Busquets
Now in his eighth year with Barcelona’s first-team, Sergio Busquets is quite possibly the most under-rated member of a Los Cules side who have dominated European football for the past decade. He’s won 21 honours with the Catalan giants, along with the World Cup and European Championships with Spain, so he deserves more recognition.
Manchester United lack a powerhouse within their midfield and Busquets would be a leading candidate to fill that void, as he possesses tremendous ability both on and off the ball. As mentioned, he’s also not as highly regarded as other members within the Barcelona squad so a transfer could be appealing.
With his history of winning, he could prove to be a vital asset for Manchester United.
Dani Alves
Now in the twilight years of his career, 32-year-old Dani Alves has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League before his career draws to a close and time is quickly running out. Given his age, Barcelona would probably be open to a sale.
Manchester United’s defence has been shaky throughout the years since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement and Alves, with his wealth of experience, could become a leader in the side- and he’s also extremely talented going forward too.
Another player who’s won everything he possibly can in Spain, Alves could use England as the final step in his illustrious career.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen
A name who’s been heavily linked to the Premier League this summer, Manchester United should definitely consider Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as a replacement for David De Gea when the inevitable happens. It’s a matter of if, not when, the Spaniard joins Real Madrid.
Ter Stegen is a quality goalkeeper with experience in Spanish and German football but his not happy to play understudy to Claudio Bravo at the Nou Camp. If De Gea was to leave, the spot would be open to Ter Stegen at Old Trafford and he’d likely jump at the chance to be a starter for such an illustrious side.
The problem though is the competition for his signature, with Manchester City and Liverpool also touted as potential suitors.
