Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are furious and are being mocked by their Manchester United counterparts, after it was revealed the Red Devils are ready to snatch a target from their rivals.
The Daily Star states United scouted Arsenal target Sergi Samper during Barcelona’s 0-0 draw in the Copa Del Rey to Villanovense and Louis Van Gaal now has his eyes firmly set on securing the combative midfielder.
Arsenal have been strongly linked to the midfielder in past two transfer windows and looked in a good position to sign the player for £8.5m in January, activating his release clause with Barcelona needing to sell if they are to purchase new faces.
However the emergence of United in the market could scupper Arsene Wenger’s plans and it could also prove to be a crucial transfer battle in the Premier League title race, with both sides keen to recruit in order to push ahead of their rivals.
