The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would love to see him at Old Trafford…
Despite a strong start to the season, everything has fallen apart for Man Utd as of late. A 4-0 defeat to Chelsea left the Man Utd fans in the Tavern feeling sombre, and their poor form continued through to the weekend, as they drew with Premier League strugglers Burnley.
Jose Mourinho, though, is not a miracle worker. He is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best coaches – but he needs top players in order to produce results – and Man Utd simply don’t have enough of those players yet.
Despite spending big over the summer, everyone in the Tavern is expecting him to go back into the transfer market in January – and it would appear that he has already started drawing up his shortlist of potential targets.
According to the Mirror, Jose Mourinho has made Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez his top target; with the £50m rated defender seemingly seen as the man to halt Man Utd’s defensive woes.
Interestingly, the Mirror also add that several top clubs have looked towards the defender as of late – meaning that the club could have a fight on their hands to bring him to Old Trafford.
A deal for the defender would reportedly be difficult in January, but the club are seemingly hopeful that a deal could be done next summer.
Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Man Utd looks set to be a slow burner, with the ex-Chelsea boss failing to ignite the immediate success that he has gotten in recent years.
With Gimenez on his side, our landlord thinks that Man Utd could prove unstoppable defensively.
The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that Mourinho needs to act fast in the transfer market, or they fear that this season could go down as a write-off.
