When Jose Mourinho was announced as Manchester United’s manager back in the summer, the Red Devils propping up the bar initially had some slight reservations.
Considering the club has such a proud history in producing their own young players, it’s fair to say the notion of pairing such an institution with a man not often associated with developing burgeoning talent didn’t seem like a natural fit.
Still, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ has started to show a willingness at least to work with players such as Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford during his short stint thus far, perhaps indicating a change in his philosophy in his new job.
With that in mind, the punters can start to get excited about some of the youngster emerging through the ranks, even with Mourinho in charge at Old Trafford. Talking about their stars of the future, here are the TWO youngsters fans get can get seriously excited about.
Regan Poole

Plucked from relative obscurity at Newport County, the 18-year-old is a wonderfully composed central defender, comparable to a young Rio Ferdinand. The heart of the backline has been a problem for the Red Devils for a number of years now and, while Poole has a long way to go until he’s ready for the first-team, he could be a long-term option in that berth.
Certainly one to look out for.
Angel Gomes
What a name. With a name like that, you’ve got to be good. And he is.
The 16-year-old attacker has even been linked with moves to Barcelona during his short career thus far, scoring goals by the bucket load at youth level and looking like a lad who will one day grow into a wonderfully lethal attacker.
