Manchester United will “throw the kitchen sink” at signing Jude Bellingham in the summer, according to Luke Edwards.

The Lowdown: Bellingham interest

Bellingham has become the most sought-after star in Europe over the last six months with his performances in the World Cup only increasing his reputation.

A host of Premier League sides are unsurprisingly interested in bringing the midfielder back to England from Borussia Dortmund, with United revealed as one of the most prominent.

The Red Devils almost signed the teenager when he was at Birmingham City, with the then 16-year-old even visiting Carrington.

The Latest: Kitchen sink job

United are renowned for bringing in England’s top talent over the last few years with Jadon Sancho’s signing a prime example of what they hope to replicate in the summer.

Speaking on Transfer Gossip Daily, The Daily Telegraph’s Edwards revealed how determined Erik ten Hag’s side are to landing the star.

(2:30) “Manchester United are going to throw the kitchen sink at it if they’ve got the money to do it, they will.”

“Personally, I’d really like to see him in the Premier League, those people around him would like to see him in the Premier League as well.”

(6:00) “They’re very much in the Bellingham race, let’s get that straight out there, they will definitely be in for Jude Bellingham in the summer,” Edwards said.

The Verdict: Sign at all costs

Bellingham, who has been hailed as a ‘ridiculously exciting’ player, is set to be the next world superstar midfield with him possessing everything you need in an all-round midfielder.

According to FBref, amongst midfielders from the top five leagues over the past year, he ranks in the top 4% for goals and dribbles completed, as well as the top 6% for touches in the attacking penalty area and top 7% for progressive passes, showing his incredible levels of attacking prowess.

Despite his attacking nature, he still ranks in the top 18% for blocks and 21% for interceptions even though he’s not tasked with being Dortmund’s defensive midfielder.

United have already seen their midfield improved with the additions of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen but the 19-year-old would walk into any midfield in the world and ten Hag will hope it’ll soon be his.
