Man Utd launch move for impressive 25-year-old defender

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to grow a bit frustrated on the lack of transfer progress at Old Trafford…

Man Utd have struggled this season, and currently lie 10 points adrift of top spot in the Premier League, and whilst a host of names have been linked with a move to the Manchester giants, as of yet – no business has actually been done.

This is something that could be about to change, though, with the Sun reporting that Jose Mourinho has put in a pretty significant bid to land Roma defender Kostas Manolas.

The Sun are suggesting that Mourinho has put in a £32.5 million offer for the defender, with the Portuguese boss seemingly keen to improve his disappointing defensive line.

The proposed deal comes amidst somewhat of a resurgent period for Man Utd, and whilst their current league position doesn’t reflect it – things are definitely on the up at Old Trafford. With a few wins coming in quick succession, Mourinho appears to finally be getting the best out of his players – and our landlord thinks that a big signing or 2 could change everything.

Manolas is definitely a player of that calibre, and has been absolutely vital for Roma in Serie A so far this season. A central defender by trade, Manolas has made 15 appearances in the league so far this season – and has looked fantastic. Strong in the air and good with the ball at his feet, he is the perfect modern defender.
