The Man Utd fans in the Tavern are disappointed that his United move did not work out…
After a high-profile switch from Bayern Munich to Manchester United, Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move across Europe was touted as a masterstroke by the Man Utd fans in the Tavern.
A player with a wealth of domestic and continental experience, Schweinsteiger impressed, in parts, during his opening campaign – but a stellar outing at EURO 2016 suggested that he would be back to his best for the 2016/17 season.
However, in a move that confused many of the punters in the Tavern – Jose Mourinho has made it his mission to exile the fallen German – banishing him from the first team setup after he refused to leave the club during the summer.
Now, with his Man Utd career on life-support; Schweinsteiger has reportedly been offered an exit route via the MLS.
MLS commissioner Don Garber recently spoke to German publication Kicker, and has opened up on the prospect of a potential USA move for Schweinsteiger.’
Speaking in the Thursday print edition of Kicker, he said: “Of course, we follow closely what happens with Bastian”
“We would Bastian welcomed with open arms. He would be a leader for our many young players.” he added.
Interestingly, Kicker also note that FC Dallas are particularly keen on the German.
Schweinsteiger’s fall from grace is a particularly disappointing tale, especially given how highly he is thought of by everyone in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The punters in-house think that the fact that he has been given a possible exit route is a great thing for the veteran.
A talented, determined and committed central midfielder, any club in Europe would be served well by having him amongst their squad; yet, bafflingly, Jose Mourinho has chosen to remove him.
Our landlord just doesn’t understand it.
