Jose Mourinho isn’t a manager that is known for developing young players. He’s known for winning trophies, and that’s about it. However, at Man Utd, that must change. He’s got an incredible academy at their Carrington training base, and it makes sense to utilise the most talented products as often and as quickly as possible.
Man Utd’s squad, at present, is far from perfect. There are some incredible players, of course, but there are also some gaping holes.
If Mourinho truly wants to bring success back to Old Trafford, he needs to reduce the size of those gaps – and so perhaps they could be filled by young players.
There are quite a few youngsters at Man Utd that are more than ready for a regular role in the first team next season.
With that said, Man Utd must give these 2 talented youngsters a chance next season…
Timothy Fosu-Mensah spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, and for the most part, he impressed.
Like so many of his peers at Man Utd, he’s had intermittent chances at Old Trafford in recent years, but he’s yet to really break through. But could next season be his year?
There’s certainly scope for that. Able to play in central defence and out wide on the right, he is comfortable in two positions that Mourinho has struggled to fill over the years.
He’d probably be best suited on the right, and so perhaps a year deputising for Antonio Valencia makes sense.
Not much is known outside of Man Utd about Taith Chong other than his very distinctive hairstyle. However, in reality, thee attacking midfielder is one of the Red Devils’ most talented young players.
The attacking midfielder is still raw, but his potential is very high indeed. Possessing incredible technical ability and pace, he thrives when moving towards goal and creating chances for either himself or his teammates.
He’s still developing, and he’s certainly not yet the finished article. However, perhaps Mourinho should give him a chance, as he could surprise fans.
