He has disappointed the Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern since his arrival…
Memphis Depay’s arrival led to mass excitement amongst the Man Utd faithful in the Football Transfer Tavern – but things have all been downhill since then.
Depay’s transfer to United has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster, with the Dutch midfielder unable to break into the first team under both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho – and his minutes appear to be decreasing by the week.
It appears clear that he is not in Jose Mourinho’s plans, and as a result it has been long speculation in the Tavern that he could be set for a January departure.
Now, those suggestions appear inevitable – with CalcioMercato reporting that the Dutchman is in-demand ahead of the January transfer window.
They are reporting that the trio of Juventus, Roma and AC Milan are all keen on Depay – whilst a move from Roma appears likely.
They add that Mo Salah’s imminent departure to the African Cup of Nations in the new year could force Roma’s hand – as the Italian giants look to bulk out their squad.
Whilst departures are rarely met with cheers in the Football Transfer Tavern, this one has left the Man Utd faithful ordering another round. They had such high hopes for Depay, but he has failed to deliver on all of them.
Our landlord thinks that a move away from Old Trafford could help him reinvigorate his career. He is still young, and he can still be a great player down the road.
In 32 league appearances for Man Utd, Depay has managed to bag just 2 goals.
