Manchester City have made an excellent start to life under Enzo Maresca, winning all three of their opening Premier League matches and moving to the top of the table.
The summer arrivals have also wasted little time making an impact, with Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez quickly settling into the side.
With City’s post-Pep Guardiola rebuild already taking shape, the club are seemingly not finished looking for ways to improve the squad.
Man City Keeping Tabs On Alex Baena
Manchester City are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid star Alex Baena, according to Football Insider, as the winger continues to establish himself among La Liga’s leading attacking players.
Baena enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign, earning a place in the league’s Team of the Season before playing his part in Spain’s World Cup triumph this summer.
The 25-year-old featured seven times for Spain during their run to the trophy, registering two goal contributions. He has carried that form into the new campaign too, scoring three goals and providing an assist across Atletico’s opening four league matches.
Primarily a left winger, Baena can also operate elsewhere across the front three, giving him the versatility that could appeal to City.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone has recently labelled the Spain international a “game-changer”, underlining the influence he can have in the final third.
Baena’s performances have also attracted attention from Newcastle United and Aston Villa, but City are among the clubs monitoring his situation as the season develops.
