Metro have confirmed what we expected here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that Manchester City have agreed a fee for Swansea City’s Wilfried Bony and it is in the £30 million region.
As one of our punters notes, that is a huge amount of money for a forward who may well be the fourth choice option at the Etihad Stadium with everybody fit and we certainly think that Swansea City have got their money’s worth if they do end up selling him.
The Ivorian striker is reportedly set to agree a £100,000-a-week deal and that will of course see his wages increase significantly and as our landlord notes over pouring a pint, we think that Bony will have some pretty big plans when returning from the African Cup Of Nations.
For a player who outscored all others during 2014 in the Premier League, we think Bony will want to make sure he is the main man while forging a deadly partnership with Sergio Aguero and being selected ahead of Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic.
Somehow, we don’t think sitting on the bench will be part of his plans!
