Manchester City: Fans give hilarious responses to new esports signing Ryan Pessoa

Following the acquisition of esports star Ryan Pessoa, who was ranked 17th in the world on Xbox last year at playing FIFA, some Manchester City supporters were quick to joke about the news and enquire if he can play centre-back.

Pessoa, who represented City during last season’s eClub World Cup alongside fellow esports Sky Blues signing Shaun ‘Shellzz’ Springette, making it to the quarter-finals, has signed for Man City and will become their second esports player for the upcoming FIFA 20 season.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Pessoa outlined what an honour it was to sign with such a huge club, stating: “It’s a massive honour to sign for such a prestigious club, who have clear ambition both on the football pitch, and on the virtual one.

“I will do my best to ensure I perform at the highest level to make this club proud.”

As a result, a section of supporters asked the simply question ‘Can he play centre-back?’ – with Pep Guardiola’s defensive crisis proving a key factor in their wavering form this season.

And things do not get any easier for Manchester City, who welcome a high-flying Chelsea side to the Etihad on Saturday.
