Manchester City secured a big three points against Aston Villa on Saturday, winning the game 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium (via BBC Sport).
Pep Guardiola’s side weren’t at their best in the first half and went into the break level. But they were much better in the second period and goals from Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan secured the victory for the Citizens.
Plenty of City players stepped up and played well in the second half, but one who was subjected to specific praise on Twitter was Gundogan.
The German midfielder was brilliant on the day. Indeed he made two key passes, won two aerial duels, made two clearances and one interception in the 90 minutes as well as scoring a goal, which gave him a WhoScored rating of 8.27.
Gundogan hasn’t always been a regular at City, after he started just 23 of their 38 league outings last season (Transfermarkt).
But he has forced his way into Guardiola’s team this season, starting seven Premier League matches including each of their last four (Transfermarkt).
His performances have been impressive, and several City fans were giving him plenty of praise on Twitter after the win against Aston Villa…
