Compared to the rest of the Premier League, Manchester City have been one of the quieter teams in the transfer market.
The Premier League champions only notable signing this summer has been Riyad Mahrez, although manager Pep Guardiola could still sign a new midfielder before the transfer window closes this month.
As well as Mahrez, Manchester City have also added French youngster Claudio Gomes and promising Dutch defender Philippe Sandler to their squad.
Sandler, who is valued at £2.2m by Transfermarkt, signed from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle and is capable of playing in defensive midfield.
However, if the 21-year-old is the man Guardiola is looking towards to provide cover for Fernandinho, then Manchester City supporters are likely to be left disappointed.
The Citizens have been linked with the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Mateo Kovacic and Thiago since losing out on Jorginho to Chelsea, so an unknown name like Sandler coming in as a possible alternative would be underwhelming.
Nevertheless, regardless of Sandler’s role in the team, the Citizens have a squad strong enough to win the Premier League again.
