According to a report by reliable journalist Mike McGrath, writing for the Telegraph, Manchester City club captain and fan favourite Fernandinho looks set to stay at the club beyond the end of 2020/2021 and extend his terms into a ninth season at Eastlands.

Indeed, as Pep Guardiola's side are crowned league champions after Manchester United's 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday evening, it appears yet more great news is coming out of the Etihad Stadium.

The record-breaking Blues have now clinched a fifth Premier League title overall and third under Guardiola, coming after they also sealed their fourth Carabao Cup triumph in a row.

In big update, journalist McGrath explains that midfield enforcer Fernandinho is 'set' to stay at the club beyond this season and expected to sign a one-year extension.

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain saw fit to hand the long-time City servant an extension last season, and with this news emerging they could now keep Fernandinho for even longer, it's little wonder one fan called it the 'best news of the day'.
