Manchester City rule-out swoop for Italian legend

PirloManchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are choking back disappointed tears after their club ruled-out an exciting January swoop.

Speculation was rife that City would look to bring Andrea Pirlo to the club on-loan in January but The Manchester Evening News states the club have ruled-out the chances of that happening.

Pirlo left Juventus in the summer to join new MLS franchise New York City FC, part owned by the Citizens, and it was suggested that he could move to the Premier League in the New Year- as he is set to return to Europe on-loan as he fights for a spot in Italy’s European Championship squad.

However, his destination won’t be Manchester as a move for Pirlo was ruled-out; as was a potential swoop for another loanee David Villa.

City are well-stocked in midfield with the likes of Fernando, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure and Fabian Delph as central options, with Manuel Pellegrini not looking for signings in this area.

Our regulars at the bar can’t hide their disappointment though, as they believe Pirlo could have provided a major boost in the Premier League title race.

City fans, would Andrea Pirlo have been an ideal January recruit? Let us know in the comments below!
