Speaking on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement, Melissa Reddy of The Independent praised Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero for the loyalty he has shown to the club.
The Citizens were recently handed a two-year ban from European competition by UEFA, with suggestions that they could lose their key assets at the end of the season quickly following. While Reddy spoke about the desire of players at top clubs to win the Champions League, The Independent journalist did acknowledge the level of loyalty Aguero has shown in the past.
She said: “Aguero, he’s been so loyal to City. I mean, you know, there’s been the option of Real Madrid, Barcelona. He is probably the Premier League’s best marksman of the last few years and yet he’s remained.”

Arriving at Manchester City from Atletico Madrid back in 2011, Aguero has been a great servant for the club, going on to become their all-time top scorer. Furthermore, Reddy is right to highlight the Argentine’s loyalty during his time in Manchester, though it will be interesting to see what happens should Champions League football at the Etihad remain off the table.
Manchester City fans, can the club keep hold of Aguero without Champions League football? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
