There are some surprised looks on the faces of Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern after hearing news that they have signed a new midfielder on a free transfer, formerly playing in the A-League.
According to the reports from the Metro, City have completed the signing of Brisbane Roar midfielder Luke Brattan on a four-year deal.
The 25-year-old has finalised his move away from Australia after he confirmed being scouted by Manuel Pelligrini’s side while playing for the Roar in Melbourne. On the same day of signing for City, he was immediately sent out on loan to Championship side Bolton Wanderers until the 3rd of January next year.
Brattan, originally born in Hull, made his senior debut in 2009 against Celtic, which he indicated early signs of his potential. After two seasons hampered by injury, Brattan finally nailed down a regular spot in the Brisbane Roar starting side.
He made 91 appearance for the Roar altogether, netting 4 goals including a crucial winner against Melbourne Victory in March 2014 to award Brisbane the Premiers Plate.
After a dispute over not being paid, the midfielder was released during the run up to the 2015-2016 A-League season and since then has been linked with a move to Premier League giants, Manchester City.
It is still unclear when the former Australian U-21 International will return to the Etihad but undoubtedly there is something for City fans to feel excited about in this talented midfielder.
