Metro have Manchester United fans looking up rather shocked here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the publication seems to think they could well be ready to make a bid for Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid central defender is reportedly unhappy with the direction his contract negotiations are going at the minute and would be open to offers should the right one come along – and Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal thinks that could well be from him.

After tax, the Red Devils are willing to offer £105,000-a-week to lure the defender but we think that more importantly, they will have to be in the Champions League and look like they can beat Chelsea and Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The challenge of winning the league in a new country could well be the key to luring Ramos and we certainly think that seeing a player who has won everything there is to win in the game come to England would be a sight to behold.
