Tahith Chong made his debut for Manchester United last season in the Premier League with two cameo appearances off the bench, with some supporters singing his praises over a career with huge potential, but after missing a sitter from two yards out in their loss to Astana, his reputation has taken a nose dive.
Jesse Lingard got United off to a flying start during their away trip to Kazakhstan, with the Englishman driving a fine shot into the bottom corner from outside the area in the first ten minutes before goals from Dmitri Shomko and Di’Shon Bernard (OG) gifted Astana their first group stage win under the lights.
However, just before the home side came back to gain an advantage, youngster Chong produced one of the misses of the season – blazing the ball over from two yards out after Luke Shaw seemingly put it on a plate.
As a result, some supporters have slated Chong for his miss ultimately leading to Astana clawing the game back – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
Chong should never start again 😠

Don’t like the idea of completely writing off young players, but he’s not been impressive when he has been given the chance.
