Manchester United fans were comparing youngster Mason Greenwood to former star Robin van Persie after his goal in the Europa League last night.
The 17-year-old scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Astana as United won their first game back in Europe’s second-tier competition (via BBC). The goal was Greenwood’s first goal for the senior team in just his second start (via Transfermarkt).
Greenwood was promoted to the first-team in the summer after the sales of attackers Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku to Internazionale on loan and permanent deals respectively.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bigged up the youth star, saying he will be an important asset for the club this season. The Norwegian also said that the decision to let Sanchez and Lukaku leave the club was the right one.
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement after watching the goal as they took to Twitter to compare the forward to the former Old Trafford striker.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Old Trafford faithful:

Reminds me of Van Persie. Especially that pull back with the left. The boy definitely has the talent.
