Manchester United fans were elated after Anthony Martial was ruled out of the club’s Premier League fixture away to Southampton (via Manchester Evening News).
The excitement came after a Twitter account tweeted a picture of Mason Greenwood with the caption ‘It’s time’.
The north-west club have seen players like Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku leave the club for Internazionale, resulting in first-team promotions for the likes of Greenwood.
With Martial injured, that leaves Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford as the club’s only senior forwards, meaning Greenwood could be set for his full Premier League debut tomorrow.
The Old Trafford giants have had a mixed start to the season, winning, drawing and losing each of the first three Premier League games.
Last week’s loss at home to Crystal Palace was the club’s first loss at home to the Eagles since 1989.
Fans were thrilled at the prospect of Greenwood starting a top-flight game for the club and took to Twitter to react.
