Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester City on Saturday will have every United fan smiling from ear to ear all week in work. One person who has even more reason to celebrate is Scott McTominay who turned 23 on Sunday, and he put in an excellent performance to see off Pep Guardiola’s men.

He was rated 7.52/10 by WhoScored for his showing. That’s his third best rating so far this Premier League season, which isn’t too shabby considering he was up against the reigning Champions. The Manchester Evening News complimented his “disciplined” midfield performance and “gamesmanship” that frustrated City, and looking at more than just one match, his 2.3 tackles per game, the second highest in the squad, shows he’s capable of being United’s midfield general.
Man United’s official Twitter account posted a message to the Scot to say happy birthday, and fans were quick to join them in congratulating him. They still couldn’t get over how well he’s been playing recently and complimented him on the season he’s having too.
