According to The Times (relayed by and the Metro), the club are looking at young players who are preferably British.

It is thought the key for the club is to look at youth and character, also looking at players who are humble but arrogant with respect for teammates but have self-belief under-pressure.

United’s transfer policy became apparent in the summer window when they signed Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire, all players of British origin (via Transfermarkt).
