Since arriving at Manchester United from Crystal Palace this summer, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has immediately impressed at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old, who was called up to Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad for the first time last week, is rapidly emerging as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.
The ex-Eagles defender has averaged 6.5 tackles per match so far, whilst recording an impressive pass success rate of 81.2% for the Red Devils in their opening four league games, per WhoScored.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate hailed Wan-Bissaka’s one-against-one defending as ‘as good as he’s seen in the Premier League’, and was expected to use him against either Bulgaria or Kosovo during England’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers. That was until the Croydon-born defender had to withdraw from the England squad with a back injury (via Guardian) – he will now return to United for his recovery.
This news will come as a blow to Southgate, who clearly holds the young full-back in high regard, but mainly to United, who face an in-form Leicester City next.
Here’s how some fans reacted to Wan-Bissaka’s injury news on Twitter…
We’re well and truly finished.

Everyone calm down. He’s got a whole fortnight to recover and that’s probably why he pulled out of the England team. Dalot will also be back after the international break so he can play at RB for a while. He’s not as good as AWB but for a game or two he’ll be fine
