Manchester United: Fans stick up for Luke Shaw after generous Christmas deed

According to a piece from the Daily Mail, Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw bought 50 Harrods gift baskets for various staff members across the Carrington training ground, each one costing an estimated £250, prompting supporters to stick up for him against certain sections of fans who don’t see the merit in his gesture.

The Englishman has somewhat become a polarising figure since signing for United in 2014, with his consistent injury issues and reported weight gain halting his progress in a Red Devils shirt.

Still only 24-years-old, Shaw arguably still has a lot to give for United if he can get over past fitness issues and gain a steady run of form in the side.

Regardless of his performances on the pitch, the former Southampton prodigy performed a good deed off it – gifting baskets of goods to various staff members throughout Carrington in the spirit of Christmas.

However, a section of fans still used the news as an opportunity to slate Shaw for his footballing contributions – with a lot of supporters then sticking up for him online amid the criticism.

Here’s what they had to say.
