Manchester United’s victory over Tottenham almost seemed too good to be true to some fans, so much so that they were panicking when Mason Greenwood was taken off at 2-1 with 10 minutes to go and replaced by Andreas Pereira. However, it’s not hard to see why they’d be worried.
WhoScored note he’s started 12 games for United in the league this season and have rated him just 6.6/10. They’ve also recorded he makes the third highest number of fouls per game on average in the whole squad, 1.4 per game, and he’s also dispossessed the third most often in the squad on average too, 1.9 times per game, behind Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial. The poor stats don’t just stop there, with him being fourth in the squad for the most “bad controls” per game, on 2.1.
United fans have seen those issues in action this season, and they were scared that bringing him on might cause them to lose the lead inside the last ten minutes. The club posted news of the change to their Twitter account, and fans were quick to reply to show how worried they were by the decision.
