Manchester United are believed to have allowed Fred to hold talks with Galatasaray about a potential move this summer, according to Fotomac (via Sport Witness).
The Istanbul outfit are thought to be keen on bringing the Brazilian to the club on a season-long loan and have offered the Premier League giants a fee of €2million (£1.8m) to have the privilege of doing so.
United are said to be open to the idea of letting the 26-year-old leave Old Trafford just 12 months after joining them, as the South American looks for regular football.
Fred really struggled to make an impact at Manchester United in his first season at the club following his reported £52million move from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer (Sky Sports). He managed to make just 25 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, with 17 of those coming in the Premier League, scoring once and providing one assist (Transfermarkt).
As with a number of players within the squad, Fred was not excused from any of the criticism that was fired at the team, as he bore the wrath of former captain Roy Keane for his performance against Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho even appeared to have reservations regarding the midfielder early into his career at the club as he revealed he could not risk playing him until there was a balance within the team.
“I think Fred [will play more], when the team is defensively stronger and doesn’t need in midfield people that are more worried about giving some balance to the team than being involved in creation and attacking dynamics. The day we are stronger defensively, I think the horizons for Fred change completely,” he told the club’s official website.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to want to see the Brazilian stick around at Old Trafford, as he is believed to have reassured him of his place in the team ahead of the upcoming campaign (The Sun).
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United would be willing to let Fred leave this summer on loan, especially considering that they spent an alleged £52m on him just 12 months ago.
Solskjaer reportedly telling him that he will feature in his plans for the upcoming campaign makes the report by Fotomac seem a little difficult to believe and whether the Brazilian would be willing to head out to Turkey to try and get regular football may be debatable as well.
Without any new additions to the squad this summer in the central midfield position at this moment in time, it would be hard to see Fred leaving in the current transfer window.
