There are a few sore heads in the Football Transfer Tavern this morning.

It appears that quite a few of our punters had a heavy Christmas Day with a recovery session required in the bar.

Before the festive feast of football can commence, David Maddock from The Mirror has arrived in the bar with some breaking transfer news.

He suggests that Manchester United manager David Moyes is ready to swoop for Spanish star Koke when the transfer window re-opens next week.

The former Everton boss was in Spain to watch the 21-year-old last week and has now decided to make the attacking midfielder his prime transfer target in January.

His interest in the highly rated Spainard has been growing by the week but he is now convinced that Spain’s latest star could be the answer to his midfield problems at Old Trafford.

Koke has been one of the star’s of the La Liga season with some impressive performances for Atletico, so much so that he now emerged as a surprise pick for Vicente Del Bosque’s Spanish World Cup squad.

He originally hit the headlines as one of the best performers at the European Under-21 Championships last summer but his fine displays for Diego Simeone’s side have now won the youngster admirers at the highest level.

Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also been rumoured to be scouting the player, but Moyes has put plans in place to land Koke in the upcoming transfer window.

Koke won’t be sold for under £30 million after only penning a new deal last summer but Moyes is desperate to add creativity to his midfield and would be willing to beat some Europe’s biggest teams to land the young star.

However as the landlord points out, why would Koke switch life at the top of La Liga for Moyes’ underperforming side in January? It may be a case of waiting until the summer for United.
