Manchester United fans are rolling their eyes here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Sunday Express claim that the Red Devils are set to be joined by a Premier League duo in their chase for Fabio Coentrao.

The Real Madrid defender has no future at the La Liga side and manager Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that should a suitable offer come in for him, Coentrao will be sold.

This has put Manchester United on red alert – but as our landlord notes, with Arsenal and Liverpool also looking for a left back, the race for the Portuguese star looks like hotting up significantly.

The majority of our punters seem to think that United are in greater need of a centre back – and Raphael Varane is top of their wishlist, not his teammate Coentrao.

Liverpool and Arsenal however are desperate for a quality full back and we think that both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers need to put their hands in their pockets and make sure that they get to the front of the queue.
