Metro seem to have Manchester United looking up with huge interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that the Red Devils are close to landing Nigel De Jong.
The AC Milan player is available on a free in the summer and while he is asking for £80,000 per week in wages, we think that is small change to pay for a player who understands the Premier League and the way Louis van Gaal works.
Van Gaal is a huge fan of De Jong and as our regulars note, the duo know each other well from the Dutch international set up – and we are pretty sure that they would make a decent team at Old Trafford.
De Jong would be happy to link up with LVG and would be able to agree a deal any time given he is able to sign on a Bosman.
