Manchester United are 'ready to invest' in the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer, according to an exciting new transfer update.

The Lowdown: Osimhen on fire for Napoli

The Nigerian is enjoying a sensational season for Napoli currently, with his performances inspiring them to the top of Serie A and towards a first league title since 1990.

Osimhen has scored 16 goals in as many league starts in 2022/23 to date, including scoring a brace in Sunday's 3-0 victory away to Spezia.

United have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent times, with a potential huge battle to sign him once the summer transfer window arrives.

The Latest: United in the mix

According to popular Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport [via Sport Witness], United are 'ready to invest' in Osimhen at the end of the season, although Chelsea are also interested.

Only three or four English clubs are thought to be able to afford him, along with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with a €120million (£107m) price tag mooted.

The Verdict: Could be a game-changer

Osimhen looks like one of the most exciting and destructive attacking players in Europe currently, so the prospect of United snapping him up is mouthwatering.

He is someone who possesses the physicality and finishing ability to be a huge hit in the Premier League, while an overall record of 43 goals in 82 appearances for Napoli speaks for itself.

Osimhen could be the perfect player to come in and lead the line for United for a long-term period  - he has been called 'phenomenal' by Walter Mazzarri in the past - wreaking havoc with Antony and Marcus Rashford on either side of him.

Granted, the money it would cost would be an eye-watering amount, but at 24, the 15-goal Nigeria international could easily justify it in the years that follow.
