Manchester United offered chance to sign “exceptional” Premier League defender

Manchester United have already made plenty of changes this summer, adding Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba and Andrey Santos to reshape their midfield while Marcus Rashford has returned to the picture.

Karl Darlow has also arrived from Leeds United to provide another goalkeeping option, but attention is now turning towards the defence.

With Carrick still looking for greater depth at centre-back, United have seemingly been presented with an opportunity.

United Offered Tosin Adarabioyo

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, with a late addition to the centre-back department now being considered at Old Trafford.

According to Ben Jacobs, United are assessing whether to bring in another central defender, and Tosin has emerged as one of the options available to them.

The 28-year-old has slipped towards the fringes of Chelsea’s first-team picture following the arrival of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, potentially opening the door to a move before the transfer window closes.

Tosin could appeal to United as a squad option rather than a headline signing, giving Carrick another experienced player to call upon across the campaign.

The former Fulham defender has previously been praised as “exceptional” by former Chelsea interim head coach Calum McFarlane, and his Premier League experience could make him a relatively straightforward solution to United’s depth concerns.

United have also been linked with Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong, but Jacobs indicates that the 20-year-old is viewed as effectively untouchable by the Blues.

For United, Tosin may therefore represent the more attainable option as they look to strengthen their back line before the deadline.
