Manchester United will wait until late in the transfer window before considering a move for Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish as they try to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, reports say.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, as per @utdreport, who claim the Aston Villa captain is not currently a transfer priority at Old Trafford.
Grealish has three years left on his contract at Villa Park and the Claret and Blue will only entertain serious offers starting at least at £80m.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his wide options but has cooled his interest in the former England U21 international.
The Englishman famously scored the goal in the 1-1 draw with West Ham that saved Dean Smith’s side from relegation on the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season.
Grealish scored eight goals and supplied six assists in the English top flight last season, but despite his best efforts, he finished with a lower WhoScored rating than Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.
Ed Woodward has warned supporters should not expect the board to splash the cash as a result of the unprecedented circumstances. Regardless, they are willing to wait and see what will pan out in order to make a move for the 24-year-old at a later date.
However, the Lions are in no rush to sell their star player, as they are backed by billionaire owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who are prepared to spend heavily again in the summer to make them more competitive next season. The Red Devils may become embroiled in a bidding war if they wait too long, amid interest from Arsenal.
Unsurprisingly, lots of United fans slammed the “terrible” news on social media, with one fan branding Woodward a “clown,” and another adding he is “incompetent,” as a transfer battle would surely push the price up even further.

Honestly where is the logic?
Villa won’t sell last minute or they’re definitely relegated.
United won’t benefit as he would be joining late and might only knock 5-10 mil off him.
I don’t want him but the logic here is typical incompetent Woodward

That makes zero sense

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want him, but this is stupid. Ed’s such a clown, running down the clock will benefit Villa, not us. Terrible idea, I feel bad for Ole if he actually wants him lul

Just don’t bother

No thanks we don’t need him… Not good enough.

I just don’t want us to bother about that guy again tbh

For the money Villa want for Grealish United should just walk away , we could easily buy two very quality midfielders for that sort of money , Grealish is good but not worth that sort of money £40-£50 max
