Everton supporters remain very upbeat in the Transfer Tavern over a week on from their side’s vital 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League, a result which moved them eight points clear of the bottom three.
Sam Allardyce’s men went into their meeting with the Eagles off the back of being thumped 5-1 by Arsenal in their preceding league encounter, a result which kept relegation fears lingering in the minds of our resident Evertonians. Yet the Toffees put further daylight between themselves and danger as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse, and Tom Davies sealed a routine success for the Merseysiders, with Luka Milivojevic’s late penalty proving to be nothing more than a consolation for Roy Hodgson’s well-beaten visitors.
Consequently, there have been many happy Everton fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping that their team can build upon last weekend’s success when they travel to Watford on Saturday.
In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Toffees supporters to discuss, not least news that Idrissa Gueye has signed a new long-term deal with the Merseyside outfit.
The Senegal international made the move to Goodison Park back in 2016 after a short time at Aston Villa, and has since gone on to become an integral member of the squad at Everton with 64 appearances for the club, 29 of which coming this time round.
And the 28-year-old has committed his future to the Toffees, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Everton supporters on Twitter.
And they were all saying the same thing given that news of Gueye’s new contract was actually leaked a while ago now…
