The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see what Olivier Giroud can do in a blue shirt. The Frenchman moved to Stamford Bridge at the end of the transfer window, and it’s fair to say that he’s exactly what Antonio Conte needed.
He offers something different to Alvaro Morata, providing aerial prowess and solid strength and technical ability. He’s clearly more direct than the Spaniard, too, and so Conte will be able to employ different tactics depending on who the Blues are playing.
Against Watford on Monday, though, Conte’s options are far more limited. The Italian has confirmed that Alvaro Morata isn’t fit to play, whilst he has also indicated that Olivier Giroud may not be ready to feature from the start either.
Conte reports that Morata remains out injured and that the first examination of Christensen's injury was positive, but he will miss Watford. He must check a couple of other players before that game.

Conte says he has to check on Olivier Giroud's physical condition ahead of Monday's game but indicates it is unlikely the player will be ready for the starting 11. He further indicates Willian may be able to return.

It’s strange, given that he played for Arsenal earlier this week and is clearly physically fit, but perhaps Conte feels the need to embed him into his system slowly.
Either way, the news hasn’t gone down well amongst Chelsea fans. Having revealed the news on the official Chelsea Twitter, Chelsea supporters have responded with one simple message: Conte must start Giroud.
Fans are clearly desperate to see what he can do, and as one fan points one, Chelsea don’t really have much choice, given their lack of attacking options at present.
