Man United among trio chasing Al Hilal striker who could make shock £40m Premier League return

Manchester United along with Everton and West Ham are keeping tabs on Al Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. The former Fulham striker is linked with a shock return to the Premier League this summer, with Al Hilal targeting Victor Osimhen and needing to offload players to keep within the Saudi Pro League’s foreign quota rules.

TalkSport has reported that Al Hilal are focusing on several marquee incomings for this summer’s Club World Cup, and will need to sell or loan players to balance the books. Aside from Osimhen, the Saudi Pro League club is reportedly targeting an £100m move for Bruno Fernandes while also approaching Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi for their vacant coaching position.

Muted rumbles of a shock temporary loan move for Cristiano Ronaldo for the Club World Cup have also surfaced, despite Al Hilal CEO Esteve Calzada dismissing these rumours as “science fiction.”

What remains true however is Hilal’s need to sell or loan. Mitrovic is believed to be one of the names the club is prepared to offload and is available for around £40m. The player is said to be keen on a Premier League return and is willing to take a pay cut.

Premier League trio chasing Mitrovic

The 30 year old Serbian has set the Saudi Pro League afire since joining from Fulham for a fee or around £50million in 2023. He has scored 68 goals in 79 appearances, leading Al Hilal to a treble in his first season with the club.

They finished as runners-up this season with Mitrovic finishing 6th in the top scorers chart with 19 goals. He could now be set for a return to England with United, Everton, and West Ham all keeping tabs on his situation.

Man United are keen on a striker this summer having missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea. Having already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are looking to add more firepower to freshen up their front line. With no European football next season though, they will have to sell first to fund more incomings.

Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to depart Old Trafford this summer.

Everton are looking to add star names as they begin a new era in their Bromley-Moore Dock stadium. Buoyed by new ownership, Everton look set to invest heavily this transfer window with David Moyes hinting at a busy summer in Merseyside. Everton leading scorer Beto is also linked to a big money move away, so the club could be looking for a replacement number 9.

West Ham endured a difficult campaign this season, finishing 14th and struggling with consistency in front of goal. Last summer’s signing Nicklas Fullkfrug spent much of his first season sidelined with injury as did record goal scorer Michail Antonio so the Hammers could find themselves on the market for a striker this summer.

Mitrovic’s former club Fulham is not expected to join the race for the player.
